“I’m just an ordinary person. I am certainly not a genius…”
Each of us is born with the adventure of self-discovery—with gifts that are to be nurtured and ultimately given to the world. Genius is in all of us—it is the quest of seeking our general and divine nature. It is the inborn ability of us all to embody nurturing change in oneself, in other humans, and in the natural world.
“All of that is good and so on, but the world is a mess right now. I’m just trying to cope.”
In times of chaos, in times of regressive, diminished, and dying structures of societies, your calling is, ironically, accelerated. Questions such as:
-What am I here for?
-Why does no one see or hear me?
-Why am I experiencing the same pain again and again?
-How can I dull the pain and forget about it?
-Where is the love?
When we are uncomfortable, when we experience devastating losses/events, when it feels unbearable—
It can be an opening to healing.
Your North Star might be shining through the darkness, helping you find your way from bondage.
Carl Jung urges us to look at our genius, which hides behind our wound(s).
Your genius needs to find expression, whether it is in the creative act (movement/dance, theater, visual arts, etc.); in the search for self (writing, ritual/connection, understanding of family); in your self-defined spirituality; in care for the animal and plant world.
What’s in the way of pursuing your calling?
The narrowness of family and culture can impose restrictions or abuse.
The norms and expectations of society/laws/media/ religion can blunt growth;
Poverty can blur your vision for anything else but survival.
Racism and gender bias can imprison and intensify your pain
Depression ensues. You feel like there is no way out.
Anxiety and panic are the sisters that thwart and displace your quest.
Substance abuse is employed for relief and escape.
Intergenerational trauma persists.
You are encouraged to explore this site for inspiration, resources, and courage. Your gifts, your calling, are needed—especially now. I hope you will join me in the journey to become a change agent, first for yourself, then for the rest of us.
We are waiting for you.
